Updating Egypt’s National Housing File in Cooperation with UN-Habitat

Egypt is advancing efforts to update the national housing file through institutional cooperation with UN-Habitat, aiming to establish a modern reference framework that supports the development of evidence-based housing policies aligned with the country’s urban and economic transformations.

In this context, senior housing officials held extensive discussions with representatives of UN-Habitat in Egypt to review mechanisms for updating the national file and to trace the evolution of housing strategies developed since 2013, including the launch of Egypt’s housing strategy in 2020.

Participants stressed that updating the national housing file is a critical step toward preparing a comprehensive reference document that will pave the way for a more flexible and data-driven housing strategy, enhancing planning efficiency and policy responsiveness.

Experts also delivered a detailed presentation outlining the new tasks, emerging issues, and analytical framework to be incorporated into the updated file, ensuring alignment with the New Urban Agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This cooperation underscores the ongoing strategic partnership between Egypt’s Ministry of Housing and UN-Habitat to strengthen housing and urban development policies, while advancing the process of updating the national housing file in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and broader sustainability objectives.
