Egypt Tourism Hits Historic Boom with $24 Billion Revenue and 19 Million Visitors
Egypt’s tourism sector delivered exceptional performance in 2025, strengthening its role as a key driver of the national economy and a major source of foreign currency.

Official figures show that the country welcomed about 19 million visitors, generating a record $24 billion in revenues, up 57 percent from the previous year and positioning Egypt as Africa’s second top destination after Morocco.

The boom has been attributed to the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, improved tourism services, relative security stability despite regional tensions, and competitive pricing compared with other destinations.

Flights arrived from 193 cities worldwide, reflecting the widening reach of Egypt’s tourism markets.

Analysts note that growth was not limited to visitor numbers but also included higher spending per tourist and better overall experience.

The government has outlined an ambitious plan to attract $35 billion in investments to add 340,000 hotel rooms, aiming to receive 30 million tourists by 2031 and raise the sector’s contribution to around 15 percent of GDP.

Observers believe these results provide vital support to Egypt’s economy amid growing demand for foreign exchange and balance-of-payments stability.
