El-Damaty: The Grand Egyptian Museum Is a Comprehensive Civilizational Institution

Former Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh El-Damaty said that the Grand Egyptian Museum represents a unique civilizational and architectural achievement on a global scale, noting that its location next to the Giza Pyramids reflects a deep understanding of the value of place and history.

He explained that the Grand Egyptian Museum goes far beyond displaying artifacts, functioning instead as a comprehensive scientific and cultural institution that supports research, education, and heritage preservation.

El-Damaty highlighted that through the Grand Egyptian Museum, Egypt offers the world an unparalleled cultural legacy, with thousands of artifacts preserved and restored using the most advanced scientific techniques.

The museum also houses the largest regional center for artifact restoration, strengthening its role as a leading hub for heritage conservation and cultural exchange.

He added that displaying the complete collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures in one place for the first time marks an unprecedented historical milestone, reinforcing Egypt’s global cultural standing.
