Egypt Tourism Revenues Top $18 Billion on Record Visitor Surge

Egypt tourism revenues posted record gains in 2025 as visitor numbers climbed to nearly 19 million, driven by strong demand during the New Year holiday season.

Official figures show that Egypt tourism revenues surpassed $18 billion for the first time, supported by hotel occupancy rates approaching full capacity in several key destinations.

Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy said Russia ranked first among source markets, followed by Germany, the UK, Saudi Arabia and Italy.

Hotel capacity expansion

He added that around 15,000 new hotel rooms were opened in 2025, with plans to add nearly 25,000 more next year, further supporting growth in Egypt tourism revenues.

Industry experts attribute the surge to the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, major infrastructure upgrades and government incentives for tourism investment.

These factors are expected to sustain the upward trajectory of Egypt tourism revenues in the coming years.
