Egypt Tourism Revenues Surpass $18 Billion as Visitor Numbers Near 19 Million

Egypt tourism revenues reached unprecedented levels in 2025 as visitor numbers climbed to nearly 19 million, supported by strong demand during the New Year holiday season.

Official data show that Egypt tourism revenues exceeded $18 billion for the first time, backed by hotel occupancy rates approaching full capacity in several tourist destinations.

Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy said Russia ranked first among source markets, followed by Germany, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Italy.

Hotel expansion and investment momentum

He added that around 15,000 new hotel rooms were opened during 2025, with plans to add nearly 25,000 more next year, supporting continued growth in Egypt tourism revenues.

Industry experts attribute the strong performance to the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, infrastructure upgrades and government incentives for tourism investment.

These factors are expected to sustain the upward trend in Egypt tourism revenues in the coming period.
