Egypt Tourism Posts Record Revenues Above $18 Billion in 2025
Tourism in Egypt posted a historic performance in 2025 as visitor numbers reached about 18.8 million, approaching the 19 million mark, the highest level on record.
Tourism in Egypt generated revenues exceeding $18 billion for the first time, supported by near-full hotel occupancy during the New Year holiday period.
Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy said Russia, Germany, the UK, Saudi Arabia and Italy were the top source markets for inbound travel this year.
Hotel capacity expansion
He added that around 15,000 new hotel rooms were opened in 2025, with plans to add nearly 25,000 more next year as part of the continued growth of tourism in Egypt.
Industry experts attribute the momentum to the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, infrastructure upgrades and government incentives for tourism investment.
These trends support expectations for sustained growth in tourism in Egypt in the coming years.
