Egypt and Spain Discuss Boosting Tourism and Cultural Cooperation at FITUR 2026

Egypt and Spain discussed ways to enhance cooperation in tourism, culture, and antiquities during an official meeting between Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and Spain’s Minister of Culture, held on the sidelines of the FITUR 2026 international tourism fair in Madrid.

Both sides emphasized that bilateral relations have witnessed a qualitative shift after being elevated to a strategic partnership, creating positive momentum and opening broader prospects for cooperation, particularly in tourism and cultural heritage.

The ministers stressed the importance of building on the outcomes of recent high-level visits, noting that closer collaboration would help deepen ties and promote mutual interests, especially through cultural exchange and increased tourism flows.

Discussions also highlighted the significant role played by Spanish archaeological missions in Egypt, supporting excavation, research, and restoration efforts, which contribute to preserving Egyptian antiquities and strengthening scientific cooperation.

The Egyptian side outlined its tourism promotion strategy under the “Unmatched Diversity” campaign, pointing out that Egypt’s wide range of tourism products allows for integrated programs combining cultural, coastal, and natural attractions appealing to Spanish travelers.

The meeting concluded with an official invitation for the Spanish minister to visit Egypt and the Grand Egyptian Museum, underscoring both countries’ commitment to advancing cooperation and fostering sustainable partnerships.
